Laurence Underwood
Co-Founder & Search Partner
Laurence graduated from The University of Nottingham with a degree in Theology before earning his PGCE in Religious Studies at Cambridge University. He began his teaching career at Old Swinford Hospital School and later taught at The Royal Wolverhampton School. A chance encounter led Laurence to shift gears into recruitment, where he has enjoyed a long career, placing consultant doctors in the NHS and Finance Directors in various industries. Throughout, Laurence maintained strong connections with his teaching network, many of whom are now in leadership roles. His desire to address the gap in understanding between schools and external recruitment agencies inspired him to co-found ED Recruit Ltd. Drawing on his dual experience as both a teacher and recruiter, Laurence aims to provide a trusted, relationship-driven service to schools.
Kate Underwood
Co-Founder & Director
Kate's career began in lettings, where she advanced to Lettings Manager for a prominent estate agency, overseeing multiple branches in Northamptonshire. In 2020, she joined a family-run property business, becoming a Director and a qualified member of ARLA. Her expertise extends to property management, development, and interior design. Now, while continuing to grow the property business, Kate also manages the rapid expansion of ED Recruit Ltd. She oversees business automation, IT strategy, marketing, and internal training, ensuring compliance and smooth operations. Fluent in both English and Polish, Kate brings a wealth of leadership and organisational skills to the team.
Wellbeing Officers
These two team members primarily handle mental health support, supervisory roles, and shredding duties. Beyond that, they aren’t particularly helpful, but they certainly keep morale high.
